  • What are some of the requirements for scooter rentals?
    To rent a scooter you must be atleast 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and a major credit card. You must agree to rental terms & conditions and sign our rental contract. Also, a refundable security deposit of $125 for small scooters and $145 for large scooters is required on all rentals.
  • Is there an age limit?
    Yes. You must be 18 years or older to rent a scooter.
  • Do I need a motorcycle license?
    No, with scooters no special permit is needed. However, you must have a valid drivers license. No temporary learning permits. No refund will be given if customer is unable to show valid drivers license and credit card upon delivery.
  • Do I need a credit card to rent?
    Yes, you must have a major credit card to rent a scooter.
  • Am I required to wear a helmet?
    Yes, Georgia law requires a helmet. We emphasize safety first. Glasses are optional. Sunglasses, goggles, or other forms of eye protection are not required.
  • What kind of shoes do you recommend I wear?
    We strongly encourage the use of closed-end shoes. Wearing flip-flops or slides is a disaster waiting to happen. There are going to be times when you will probably want to put your foot down, or debris from the ride could come up. Please consider wearing sneakers, boots, or any closed-tosed shoe.
  • Do I need to fill the gas tank up before I return the scooter?
    Gas is already included with the rental price, so you can bring the scooter back empty if you'd like.
  • Can I be denied rental?
    Uptown Scooter Rentals reserves the right to deny any rental or cancel the reservation if we determine you are operating in an unsafe or uninformed manner. We have the right to refuse rental if we determine that you are not comfortable and confident after the “getting-used-to” period when we are showing you how to operate the scooter.
  • When am I required to pay?
    Due to a large amount of reservations, full payment is due at the time of the reservation. The refundable security deposit, however, is charged at the rental start date.
  • What does the refundable security deposit cover?
    The Refundable Security Deposit covers up to $145 of any parking tickets, moving violations, and/or damages done to the vehicle during the time of the rental. The deposit is due at the time of reservation and MUST be made with a credit card. It is a charge in additional to the rental amount.
  • When do I receive the refund for the security deposit?
    The security deposit is refunded directly to the original credit card 4 to 5 business days after the end of the rental depending on your financial institution. You must have a valid drivers license.
  • What is your cancellation/early return policies?
    If you need to cancel for any reason prior to your rental start date, please note the following: There is no charge for cancellations made within 24 hours prior to the rental start date. There is a charge (the cost of the rental) for cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the start date. Email notification is the only way of cancellation. If you wish to return your scooter early (before the designated rental end date) for any reason, no refunds will be given.
  • Is there a delivery cut-off time?
    All scooters must be delivered by 6PM.
  • What areas do you deliver to?
    Uptown Columbus and surrounding areas.
  • What happens to the rental if it rains?
    In the event of severe rain or inclement weather, we advise our customers to exercise caution when riding. You may cancel, but the normal refund regulations apply.
  • Where am I allowed to park?
    Any legal parking space or designated scooter parking. Please follow all local parking regulations in Uptown Columbus.
  • How can I avoid damage while parking?
    Stay away from high‐trafficked areas like fire hydrants, corners, and driveways. The more car traffic there is, the greater the risk of your scooter getting hit. Don’t leave your front tire hanging out in traffic. Make sure your bike is firmly planted on its kickstand or center stand and not tipping too much in any direction.
  • How can I make sure the scooter is safe when parked?
    Be friendly with the business owners, residents, and doormen where you park regularly; they’ll be your eyes when you’re not around, and may pass along information to you in case of an incident. Use multiple methods: a steering lock a wheel chained up (especially to a stationary object) will take too long for most thieves Park near others, especially other motorcycles, in well lit, foot trafficked areas.
  • What happens if the scooter I rent gets damaged?
